My First “Concert”

May 6, 2010

here’s a fun fact about me: if i had to choose any “genre” of music that i had to listen to for the rest of my life, forever and ever, it would be 90’s Alt-Rock. seriously. there was a fantastic radio station around when i was an adolescent and into my early (awkward, angsty, awful) teen years based out of Washington, DC that i recall listening to as much as humanly possible, behind locked bedroom doors, sitting wedged in the tiny space between my bed and wall, just hating everything and being really deep and emotional and stuff. the radio station was WHFS 99.1 (R.I.P.) and it was the benchmark of cool for the DC metro area (at least in my suburban white teenage eyes). it threw an amazing rock festival every summer at RFK Stadium that attracted such rad bands such as: Green Day, Echo and the Bunnymen, The B52s, Stone Temple Pilots, Prodigy, and a ton other that i can’t remember because i am now almost 28 and those festivals were like, 15 years ago.

alas, i digress.

i love 90s Alt-Rock.

and because of this, i am so proud to say that my first show ever was… Soul Asylum, the Lemonheads (swwooooon for Evan Dando), and Cracker. what a kickass lineup. this was 1997. man…what a rad show.

Soul Asylum, “Runaway Train”

Lemonheads, “Into Your Arms”

Cracker, “Euro-Trash Girl”
